Inc. Magazine Lists Wana Brands as One of America’s Fastest-growing Private Companies

North America’s No. 1 cannabis-infused edibles manufacturer earns ranking on annual Inc. 5000 list for fourth year in a row 

BOULDER, Colo. (August 17, 2021) – Wana Brands announced today that it has earned the rank of No. 2,675 on the annual Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Wana has earned a position on the list and demonstrates a triumph of the company’s resilience and resourcefulness during one of the most challenging business years in history.

The Inc. 5000 list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. The average median three-year growth rate soared to 543% among those companies on the list, and median revenue reached $11.1 million. Together, those companies added more than 610,000 jobs over the past three years. With a three-year growth rate of 152%, Wana Brands expanded into five new markets during 2020.

“During a time when so many companies struggled to stay afloat and keep serving customers, we were extremely fortunate to be reaching out to new consumers since cannabis was deemed essential during the global pandemic,” Whiteman continued. “It has been an extremely challenging year, so landing a spot on the Inc. 5000 is even more meaningful.”

Wana’s designation as an Inc. 5000 company comes on the heels of several prestigious award wins. The Denver Business Journal (DBJ) has recognized Wana CMO Joe Hodas as the winner of its C-Suite Award 2021: CMO Category (August 2021). DBJ also identified Wana Brands as the winner of its Corporate Social Responsibility category in its Small Business Awards (May 2021) for its efforts to fight systemic racism in the cannabis industry. Wana Brands was included in BizWest’s Mercury 100, Boulder County Flight 1 No. 4, with a two year growth rate of 97% (May 2021).

Companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2020. The minimum revenue required for 2017 is $100,000; the minimum for 2020 is $2 million. Growth rates used to determine company rankings were calculated to three decimal places.
