Wana Partners with Black CannaBusiness Magazine, Sponsors First Annual BlackCanna Conference for Black Cannabis Entrepreneurs and Professionals

—Partnership aims to contribute toward a more dynamic, equitable cannabis industry—

Boulder, Colo. (Nov. 5, 2020)—Wana Brands is a proud sponsor of the first annual BlackCanna Conference hosted by Black CannaBusiness Magazine, taking place November 12-14. This sponsorship builds on Wana’s partnership with the newly-launched Black CannaBusiness Magazine, a B2B publication created for Black cannabis entrepreneurs.

The three-day virtual BlackCanna Conference brings together emerging Black cannabis professionals to share their experiences, learn about new opportunities and set their businesses up for success. The BlackCanna Conference is the only national conference created specifically for Black cannabis business owners and professionals. It will feature 20 influential Black industry leaders presenting across six tracks: Start-Ups and Funding; Dispensary Operations; Farming and Cultivation; Ancillary and Tech; Cannabis Wellness; and Black Politics and Cannabis.

“Black entrepreneurs enter the cannabis industry with different backgrounds and experiences than their white peers, while also facing unique challenges,” said Kristi Price, founder of Black CannaBusiness Magazine. “It’s important for us to share our knowledge with each other, and also to speak up and let the industry know what we need to grow and thrive.”

Whiteman will join Price on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3pm MT/4pm CT at the BlackCanna Conference for the premier installment of the Inclusion Conversation Series, conversations produced by Black CannaBusiness Magazine that gives leading cannabis companies a platform to address their organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The partnership with Black CannaBusiness Magazine builds on Wana’s organizational commitment to meaningfully contribute to social equity and racial justice. In September 2020, Wana launched the initiative, providing trusted resources for cannabis industry companies to address systemic racism and social equity while building more inclusive workplaces. Wana is applying these practices in all areas of its own operations, from compensation, benefits and training to a more conscious and equitable hiring process to address any inherent biases such as criminal history due to the racist War on Drugs. The new partnership with Black Cannabusiness complements Wana’s long-standing support of the Last Prisoner Project (LPP)’s advocacy and restorative justice work.
